The Ancient coins category presents the Mediterranean and Near Eastern coinage from city state obols and drachms to Roman Republic and Imperial denarii and sestertii. Descriptions include region, city or ruler, die type and iconography, with references to standard works such as SNG, RIC, BMC, HGC and Sear where relevant.
Collecting is supported by geographic grouping (Greek, Roman, Provincial), ruler based series and thematic selections (deities, animals, military scenes). We describe patina and legend legibility, as both strongly influence aesthetic and scholarly value.
