Ancient coins – Greek, Roman and the Hellenistic world
The Ancient coins category presents the Mediterranean and Near Eastern coinage from city state obols and drachms to Roman Republic and Imperial denarii and sestertii. Descriptions include region, city or ruler, die type and iconography, with references to standard works such as SNG, RIC, BMC, HGC and Sear where relevant.
Collecting is supported by geographic grouping (Greek, Roman, Provincial), ruler based series and thematic selections (deities, animals, military scenes). We describe patina and legend legibility, as both strongly influence aesthetic and scholarly value.
Every piece is measured and photographed in natural light; further photos and literature pointers are available on request. The market for antiquities is sensitive to rarity and provenance, and we are happy to advise on building a coherent series within your budget.
